About Us

On September 16, 2012, a group interested in African American genealogy met at the Leroy Collins Public Library to organize a local African American genealogy club.  Those present included: Gladys Caswell, Patricia Cheavers, Isadore Davis, Juanita Gaston, Kendra Johnson, Derrick Rose, and Lynn Waddell.

After operating as an informal organization, Tallahassee African American Genealogical Club officially organized as the Tallahasse African American Genealogical Society on January 1, 2019, and elected the following officers: Dr. Juanita Gaston (President), Dr. Felita McNeill (Vice-President), and Dr. Ronald Williams (Secretary/Treasurer).
